the ride this morning

Was really nice. Very varied!

It started off nearly cold. I had to stop to retuck my left sleeve into my glove. It was early light, 7am on the Santa Cruz side of the hill. Very high clouds, some thin like pencils, made a light blanket. I rode my new favored back route, Zayante road I think?, which was nearly free of traffic, but full of nice easy long curves. Ha on you, San Lorenzo Valley high traffic! :-) The scent of the morning really caught me a couple of times as I rode through woods; damp earth, pine, oak. Near heavenly.

I made sure to put my sunglasses on; it was pretty clear that side of the hill, which usually means blinding light San Jose side. However, come the summit, it fogged up! Very gray, but happily not down to the ground. It also got warmer. I stayed about 10mph over the speed limit most of the way over the hill. Near Los Gatos traffic mostly ground to a halt, so I got to play demon and split lanes for a time, including past two on ramps, which always contribute to a sped up heartbeat. :-) It was fun.

Once I was truly on southbound 85, the sun was out again, and I was able to scoot on over to the motorcycle lane, hunker down over the Seca, and zoom on down the road.

This was a good day to ride to work.

p.s. it was fun helping [livejournal.com profile] kroche paint the Stargate ring last night. :-)
