The Mormons Get Caught

I think this is excellent news and worth sharing: The LDS church was found guilty on 13 counts of malfeasance around Prop 8. And were fined - the first time this has ever happened to a religious organization. Check it out.

The article also mentions how the Mormon corridor of influence extends into eastern CA. Yeah, we figured that one out.

Get the bastards. And what do I bet this will not make big news headlines either.

There's a Mormon church/temple/thing in my town. It's close enough to walk our dogs past it, though we prefer other routes. I am usually a very conscientious citizen about scooping after my dogs, but if my dogs were to say, need to do their business on the lawn while passing the Mormon property, I might think twice... :p

Wow. This is a good precendent to establish.

The fining the Mormons, not so sure about the poop.

But seriously, this is an excellent precedent. Not much in the news tho. Let me check NYT...

Thanks for sharing!

However I think it TOTALLY SUCKS big that they only got fined 5K. That's nothing for trampling on my rights. Grrrr... this makes me SO mad!

Yeah, the fine size is bizarre. It's a somewhat mixed message... radical to fine a religious group, but a bare slap on the wrist.

I'm glad that they were successfully nailed, but a $5K fine is barely a slap on the writs.
