random browsing happiness
Google labs has introduce a 'flip' news presentation... it lets you browse site (magazine/newspaper) covers or articles, flip forward and back... pretty cool. I think it will be fun to explore at some date and see if, oh, they have an science fiction section or an lgbt section, etc.
it's time to act for net neutrality again
https://secure.freepress.net/site/Advocacy?id=356
From wikipedia: Network neutrality (also net neutrality, Internet neutrality) is a principle proposed for user access networks participating in the Internet that advocates no restrictions on content, sites, or platforms, on the kinds of equipment that may be attached, and on the modes of communication allowed, as well as communication that is not unreasonably degraded by other traffic.
... This affects our freedom and our future. I think the petition at least shows people still care about the issue. The wheels of regulation are turning as slowly as ever. !

Help o intarwebs! livejournal options? / wordpress
I have no idea how to use it. There is no support on the home page (or on a quick Google search). The accompanying text file says:
"go to the LJ options page and set it up".
and that is all it says.
Um. Ok. Which options page? Where? I've been looking and not finding. LJ gurus, any advice?
Thank you kindly in advance. !

error code 2006
Apparently I am not the first person to encounter the undocumented error code 2006 for google calendar sync. Many people have posted; no one from Google has responded.
There may be some profile links; I only have one profile. Am currently running Microsoft's .pst repair tool (after several minutes spent FINDING it on my computer; search didn't work). When the tool finishes, I have more to do. Reading it over, the what isn't very intuitive.
jimminy crickets.
time for my Feri practice. not sure I should take this mood traveling Under... feh. Maybe I should oil my boots after.
Am not pleased.
Solution, should any one else have the problem: Outlook wouldn't open, Google had no documentation. I used Microsoft's repair tool, scanpst (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287497) on the outlook .pst file (once I found it, which was not easy), and that solved the problem; the tool repaired the .pst file. Fortunately, I didn't have to do the restore part of the process.
GreenPrint is now available for 64-bit machines.
UPDATED/ help! iphone applications
The apps are all there.
They are screens to the right after a screen containing only one icon. Poor implementation. Yea for no further major annoyance. Boy, was I missing some of my apps!
Rearrangement in my future.
------------
I've updated my iphone to 3.0. And synched it; a couple of times now. My music has transferred to the phone, and my contacts. But not my applications! I've checked the tabs in itunes; all the right stuff is marked for synching.
How do I get my applications back?
Secret clues much appreciated!!

cool/sad article on Tesla's labs
Tesla's labs/grounds are neglected and up for sale. Rather a steampunk dream.

geek time...
So far all I can come up with is buying a slate computer with a really big screen and hanging it on a wall. Probably clunky looking - and not inexpensive. How about digital picture frames? I have no idea how they work. I'm presuming said clock would need an interenet connection to work. ??
