Independently Jinxed
Jul. 6th, 2005 02:38 pmHaving a four-day weekend was of course wonderful. :-) And of course, it was too short.
Highlights:
Saw War of the Worlds. It had some delightfully nightmarish imagery. Was a bit short on technobabble (why no cars, but power here and neither there?). Intense. I liked it.
Did a lot of bicycle shopping. Haven't actually acquired a bicycle. ;-) Well, I have one... but it needs new tires, which are an odd size. Do I spend the money on tires and time and effort on overhauling it (considering I have zero ability in the area unfortuantley) or buy a new bike? Did discover I need a 24" frame rather than a 26"... the 26" appears much more standard. Sigh. and a 30" inseam for my height is pretty good. !
Got to try out Rod and Allen's hot tub. Awesome! It has a 'shiatsu' seat, with more jets than I've every felt in a hot tub. Some had very inteersting possibilites. :-)
On the 4th, they came over our place, and helped on putting the Bowflex together, as well as my new storage cubes (I seem to be constantly hunting for ways to hold more stuff in less space). We ate and drank a lot and went to the Scott's Valley fireworks as has become usual... claimed our space in the K-Mart parking lot. LOL It rocks. Had tons of new fireworks, as marked by the increased number of misfires, and magical spinnign pinwheels. Whee!! Such a delight, especially as Wyatt becomes a very little boy while watching fireworks. :-)
Wyatt and I did a lot of work around the yard when we were home. The backyard is getting into shape for summer parties. Man, it is a LOT of work. Tons more remain. And I haven't even gotten to make a start on gardening...
Oh yeah, jinxed. I opened and closed the pool cover four times. It broke twice, requiring tools. I also found the largest black wdow spider the four of us had ever seen. I used the yard blower twice, and it broke once (the trigger!?). It got to the point where I was afraid to lock a door or use our awesome Magic Bullet blender. The one good thing was that it only cost $5 at a local locksmith to get the broken tip of my key out of the rear gate lock of my Sportage (Kia quoted $169 I kid you not... call around!). Anyhow, it's not going to be funny if I can't do any work around the house withtout breaking something. :-(
