this sounds really interesting for the costumers...

For anyone who is interested, The SF Opera costume department is having one of its rare sales (last was 2003).

The sale will be at our prop and scenery warehouse at 800 Indiana St., SF CA.
Saturday Oct. 24, 10:00-5:00
Sunday Oct. 25, 10:00-4:00

We generally have all price ranges($1 to $1000) most below $25. Everything is usually priced way below what it is worth, but if we are not going to use it again and it is taking up valuable storage space, it has got to go!

Re-use, Re-purpose, and support your local arts non-profits during the recession.

Anyway, feel free to pass this on to anyone who might be interested – there's a ton (probably literally) of awesome and crazy things. Seriously, this is a Halloween, costume ball, Dickens Fair, RenFest, Burning Man aficionado's dream come true, particularly if you have a thing for rhinestones.

Also, just FYI, if you're shopping for yourself or a friend it's a good idea to know your basic measurements (bust, waist, hip) since even though you might not be able to try things on (I have no idea what the situation/policy on that is), most stuff will be marked with garment measurements. You might even want to bring a tape measure just to be on the safe side.

"Vyvyan*, do we have a Video?" “No! We don't have a video!”

However, there is still time to enter the Costume-Con 26 Video Masquerade Contest!  You have until the end of January to get your entry to us.

At last, you can do that masquerade entry which just couldn't be done on stage, so others can finally see it!! Your entry can be BIG! It can be small! It can have a cast of thousands, or just a few!

In celebration of one of our favorite costumed holidays, I'm happy to
announce that weekend membership rates will
*NOT* increase tonight as originally planned.

Adult Weekend Memberships will remain at the current price of $85 for
the remainder of 2007, with a planned rate increase on January 1, 2008.

This means that you can purchase memberships for your friends as holiday
gifts! (*Which* holiday you choose to present them in celebration of we
leave as an exercise for the reader.)

Costumers all tend to have a specific era or genre that appeals to us aesthetically, which is fine, but sometimes we get too focused and fail to appreciate other eras or genres that might suit our body type, our facial features, or even just challenge us to think outside the box a little bit. So, I'm opening the floor for suggestions: Give me one costume you'd want me to wear, and why. Picture links appreciated. :)

And then spread this meme like SARS and I'll try to do the same for you.

Greetings from the Costume Continuum!

Costume-Con 26 is coming to Silicon Valley in April 2008. Believe it or not, our first contest deadline is creeping up, and we know you don't want to miss it! If you want to register for the "Project Folio" challenge, you only have until August 15th, 2007 to do so. Other designs must be postmarked by September 15. Check out the Future Fashion Folio for more information.

The Single Pattern Contest rules have changed. In addition to the Single Pattern design category in the Fashion Folio, there will be judging of constructed garments at the convention in the same manner as in past years. Make sure to read about it on the website.

A  hint from the Evil Geniuses running the Future Fashion Folio and Show: We are really fond of Dr. Seuss. Now what could a costumer do with that...? Search the Folio rules for more suggestions.

Finally, we want to let you know hotel room reservations are in full swing! You can now reserve a room at the Doubletree at the con rate for three days before and after our stellar gathering of costume aficionados.  Sorry, the suites are already sold out, but there are plenty of king-size and double-queen bed rooms left.

Costume-Con is a premiere venue for professional and hobbyist costumers to meet, compete, share, and socialize. To register online, or for further information on Costume-Con 26, please visit our website at
