Wow, what a great little break I just had! Unusually, I felt more like sitting by the stream than walking. So I tripped my way down to the stream, dodging the wildly growing poison oak (from all the extra rain this year I presume; I am considering getting shears at Goodwill and keeping them here at work just for cutting the awful stuff back with), and sat for a bit. I was about ready to leave, when a great shadow flew overhead; I looked up; a big blue heron swooped by, turned, called, and swooped off again. Wow!
So, I got up and turned, pleased, and curious about a sound I'd been hearing for a time. And there, half way up a tree with a nicely burned out section (from long long ago), I saw a young raccoon (juvenile, not baby) chittering away at something or other. ! Too cool! Answer to the cause of the sound, and I think raccoons are really nifty animals (that they invade homes regularly doesn't change that for me). Another sound, an herbal crashing, drew my attention... and to my right two or three deer bounded down and away. I only saw one. !
Finally trudging back up the hill, I fingered a pice of glass trash I'd picked up, and felt like I'd been rewarded for doing a good deed. LOL Isn't that funny? In any case, nature is a delight to me, soothing some of the worries of the day. I am greatful.
