Ever since high school, I have fought rounding my shoulders. All those strange geeky pursuits like reading and writing and computer geeking have had me hunching forward too often. I've been endlessly told to push/pull/force my shoulders down. It never took. All that forcing was too hard, required too much work. Been hearing this since high school.

I've started the occasional visit with a personal trainer at the gym; gotta do something for this crescendo of back and shoulder pain, and nothing else has really worked long term (though chiropractor and yoga help).

He tells me: lead with your sternum. All the time.

Guess what? I do that, and my shoulders *naturally* fall back and down. No forcing required. All I have to remember to do is keep that breastbone high, not a strain, just a lifting, an opening of the chest. It will take some time to not have to think about it any more, but I bet it's possible.

Wish someone had put it that way when I was 17. Here's hoping it helps someone else out.
