I've been playing around with some new programs, some beta, and extensions.

Google notebook rocks! It lets you grab web snippets and save them to an endless tape, which of course then is accessible anytime you're logged into Google.

I'm using Foxmarks, a Firefox extension, to coordinate bookmarks on multiple machines. So, unlike with del.icio.us, I don't have to go somewhere else to get my bookmarks. OTOH, the social aspect is missing, and that is the coolest part of del.icio.us (and where the heck did that name come from?).

I also experimented with the beta version of Google's directions function; it worked properly one of three times. The idea is you can add a stop to an already worked out itinerary/directions. So, I played around with directions from home to Anaheim, and then added a stop in Santa Barbara. The first time it worked, putting SB between home and Anaheim; the other two times it essentially made a new end point, tacking SB to the end of the trip (verra silly if you know the terrain, as well as not being the 'stop' concept at all). It will be cool when Google gets it working properly.

There is also a beta of Picasa, adding web photo albums, free of course (what we love most about Google!). I've only made one album, but so far so good.

Now I just need to get my new wireless router working at home.

del.icio.us

us - country code domain
icio - domain name
del - sub-domain

Somebody had the bright idea to search out any word that ends in us and registered them.
