I am having a hard time keeping my eyes open this afternoon. That aside, there is much of gorgeous to report.
1. The bike path. Today is the day where the mustard has shot up to four feet tall, and is covered with yellow blooms. Plus the peach trees are still blooming white, and then there's pink on some other tree. And green green hills less than a mile away, as backdrop. And white stuff blow by in little clouds now and again. Gorgeous. (I am trying to convince myself its the falling blossoms, and not pollen).
2. The Mountain Lions sign. A temporary prop made of aluminum, added to the trail. A sign saying the wildlife is pretty wild. Gorgeous! (and yes a wee bit scary, but then again I've always known the possibility was there. Vivid life!)
3. The turkey. I was heading back, and under the freeway overpass in very deep shadow was this gorgeous tom of a bird, easily the biggest fellow I've seen, with a true red wattle and deep brown in his showy tail. I didn't see his flock.
4. Cirque du Soleil, Kooza. Especially the second half, where the theme turns to fire; red and gold and black. But really the entire thing. Very magical. Circus in a box. The music was excellent (sadly, no CD until September). The costumes were lovely. I always want some of their shoes/boots! This show really does feel more circus-like than, say, O, being focused on acrobatics and clowns.
But, my, no one could be grossed out by these clowns, and they tied wonderfully into the story as well as adding lots of amusement. And the acrobatics... wow. A fun additional circus bit: a spectacular, old school juggler; wearing the glittery-ist silver outfit I've ever seen, and aptly tossed this n that by a classic Lovely Assistant. Part of me was a bit horrified by it all, but most of me really appreciated the classic touch. :-) They had a pair of the huge pendulum rings, with a gymnast in/on each, powering them and doing death-defying stunts. Hot! --- and on yeah, there was a great tumbling group of Death as well.
The main story character reminded me much of the little boy in *Where the Wild Things Are.*
It was fun and exciting and humorous and gorgeous.
