It's fun to imagine having an office with Kirk's chair in it.

10. Specifications are for the weak and timid!

9. You question the worthiness of my code? I should kill you where you stand!

8. Indentation?! - I will show you how to indent when I indent your skull!

7. What is this talk of 'release'? Klingons do not make software 'releases' Our software 'escapes' leaving a bloody trail of designers and quality assurance people in its wake.

6. Klingon function calls do not have 'parameters' - they have 'arguments' - and they ALWAYS WIN THEM.

5. Debugging? Klingons do not debug. Our software does not coddle the weak.

4. A TRUE Klingon Warrior does not comment on his code!

3. Klingon software does NOT have BUGS. It has FEATURES, and those features are too sophisticated for a Romulan pig like you to understand.

2. You cannot truly appreciate Dilbert unless you've read it in the original Klingon.

1. Our users will know fear and cower before our software! Ship it! Ship it and let them flee like the dogs they are!

Last night I went and saw the new HD Star Trek TOS episode(s) *The Menagerie* at the movie theater (with [livejournal.com profile] kingwyatt and a newish co-worker).

OMG.

I went in an entire skeptic. I'd seen one episode of TOS on tv, with new special effects, and thought it was a big waste of time. I'm generally a believer in keeping the art the way it was originally created. But but but... the Okutas (long time Trek participants) went back to original source materials, film to scores, and recreated everything as originally done, but to contemporary standards. It was beautiful. They had a clip of Robert Justman saying this was the way the show should've gone out the door. That'll make a believer of anyone.

I utterly loved the music; the same sound, but in that nice big stereo plus room filling sound. There was a clip of the orchestra working which nearly brought a tear to me eye. To be in that band! ...The effects (ships, weapons) were beautiful.

One amusing side effect of the HD was noticing many minor flaws (particularly costume flaws; the Nearly Invisible Zipper was yet more visible; places where an insignia wasn't quite tacked down properly), which were invisible as originally done. I think this qualifies as the place where a tiny bit was lost; those flaws weren't flaws before.

They upped the contrast in the new version. Which is generally good, but overall did make a lot of scenes feel a bit darker. Still, the visual quality overall just sparkles.

Guess I'm gonna have to start saving my pennies for this too!
